Margaret “Maggie” (Cowie) Smith

Margaret “Maggie” (Cowie) Smith, 78, resident of Micco, FL was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 2, 2025. She passed peacefully at her daughter’s house in New Baltimore, MI surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 12, 1947, in Waltham, MA, the daughter of John W and Lillian (Gaines) Cowie. Margaret was raised and educated in Wilton, NH and graduated from Wilton/Lyndeborough High School Class of 1965. She also attended Fisher College in Boston, MA.

In 1964, she met the love of her life, Ronald “Ron” Smith, and wed on September 3, 1966. They settled in Milford, NH, where she raised their three daughters, Megan, Heather and Alison. Maggie and Ron were inseparable, building and running two businesses together; Merrill’s Metal Shop in Nashua, NH and then Heaven’s Best Carpet Cleaning in 1990 when they relocated to Micco, FL.

Maggie attended The Church of Our Savior in Milford, NH and shared her love and passion for travel, sewing, gardening and cooking with her three daughters. She was the master scheduler, accountant, trip planner, co-pilot, and DIY partner with husband Ron and recently celebrated her 59-year wedding anniversary with Ron and family in Michigan. Her gentle soul, infectious laugh, kindness, and caring of others will truly be missed by all her family and friends.

Maggie is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Smith of Micco, FL, her three daughters, Megan Smith of Brandon FL, Heather (Jason) Sekella of Bedford, NH, and Alison Reardon of New Baltimore, MI.

She is also survived by two sisters Jacqueline (David) Romano of Westborough MA and Janet Whiting of Las Vegas, NV. Maggie will be lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Isaiah Smith, Knoxville, TN, Nastassja Sekella, Denver, CO, Ekaterina Sekella, Peterborough, NH, Alivia Reardon, Aimee (Robert) York and children Savanna, Cooper & Addison of New Baltimore, MI, Aaron (Macy) Reardon, Mikayla (Kenneth) Scherer and children Charlee and Lainey of Chesterfield, MI.

Maggie was preceded in death by her father John W. Cowie, her mother Lillian Gaines Cowie, her father-in-law Fosdick J. Smith and her mother-in-law Grace Harding Smith.
