Dorothy E. (Stearns) Marvell

Dorothy E. (Stearns) Marvell, 90, of Sunset Tree Farm, New Boston died surrounded by family on March 1, 2012, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

She was born on October 6, 1921 in Medford, MA a daughter of the late Granville M. and Olive M. (Harmon) Stearns. She was educated in Hollis. A longtime resident of New Boston, she had previously lived in Hollis for many years. Mrs. Marvell was the widow of Kenneth V. Marvell Sr., who died on December 30, 2006. They shared 67 years of marriage.

She held many occupations throughout her career, including the credit department for Montgomery Wards, the Hollis Telephone Company and the former Pillow Pack. The center of her life was her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved painting and making ceramic and porcelain figurines. Fraternally, she was a member of the Grange and the Rebekahs.

In addition to her parents and her brother Hobart H. Stearns, she was predeceased by sons, Kenneth V. Jr. and Edward C., as well as a daughter, Merilyn.

Mrs. Marvell is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Seager of New Boston; five grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Marie Seager, Clarksville, NH; Paul and Tammy Seager, Hollis, NH; Beth and Bill Zaccardi, Manchester, NH; Gregory Marvell and Doreen Marvell, Oregon; five great grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Granville M.(Mitch) and Catherine Stearns of Merrimack; and many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
