Charles V. Higgins

BROOKLINE, NH – Charles V. Higgins, 86, resident of Brookline, NH, died on April 6, 2014, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, MA.

He was born in Miami, FL, on June 20, 1927, a son of Charles V. Higgins, Sr. and Emily Victoria (Cartwright) Bagley.

Mr. Higgins made his home in Brookline for more than 25 years and formerly lived in Wellesley, MA.

Mr. Higgins received his mechanical engineering training at Asheville-Biltmore College, Asheville, SC. He went to work for Oxford Precision, Inc. in 1960 as a sales engineer covering the Eastern Seaboard and in 1967 was named Vice President. Previously he had served as general manager of Mercenair, Inc. in Sudbury, MA.

Mr. Higgins was an avid golfer and was proud that he played at St. Andrews Links in Scotland. In 1967, he was part of a team that won the Harry Gaston Memorial Golf Tournament at the Indian Meadow Country Club. In addition, he was a Boston sports fan and loved watching the Red Sox, New England Patriots, Bruins, PGA and LPGA golf tours.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Family members include four children, Tammy, Diane, Charles and Victoria.

There are no visiting hours. A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 10 at 11 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Pepperell Road, Brookline. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford.
