Melissa J. Patterson

Melissa J. Patterson, 57, of Merrimack, NH was an amazingly generous and kind individual who struggled with physical and mental illness. They got the best of her this week and we are so saddened to say goodbye.

Melissa was born in Nashua, NH on Nov. 23, 1959 the youngest of four children of Barbara (Maker) Patterson of Merrimack and the late Dana Patterson who died in 1991.

She attended Merrimack schools and then moved to Nashua when she found herself a wife and mother at still a young age. She raised her two children in Merrimack and was a mother figure to many; cousins, friends of her children, and neighbors. Her generous and kind soul drew her to opportunities to help others. She hoped and studied to be a nurse but her own illness interrupted her studies. She spent many years helping and supporting her family, it’s what she seemed to feel best doing. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting, reading and scrabble.

In addition to her father she is also pre-deceased by a nephew Serge Mailhiot who died in 2016.

She will be dearly missed by her family, a daughter Mandy and her wife Sarah, and their 3 children, Alex, Paris, and Joel, her Jonah, a brother Steven Patterson and his wife Pam, two sisters Jennifer and Julie Patterson, a niece Heather Artus and her husband Brian, and their children, Shaylee, Kyla and Gavin.

Memorial calling hours will be held in the Rivet Funeral Home & Crematorium, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to American Heart Assoc. 2 Wall St., Unit 104, Manchester, NH 03101, www.heart.org or to NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness, www.nami.org.
