John ‘Buddy’ P. Witzenbocker Jr.

John “Buddy” P. Witzenbocker Jr., 87, of Merrimack passed away on August 26th 2017, to once again be with the love of his life Dorothy “Dottie” (Tripp) Witzenbocker.

Buddy was born January 18th, 1930 on Long Island, NY where he grew up with his honey, Dottie. He enlisted at 17 to serve his country in the US Navy from 1947 to 1951 on the USS Roanoke. Shortly after his honorable discharge, he married his love on July 21st, 1951, where they went on to start a family and eventually move to Merrimack, NH.

Buddy worked as a butcher for most of his career, and was an all around phenomenal cook but was most famous for his spaghetti sauce. He retired in time to help his son-in-law start a towing and auto body business, which gave him an opportunity to see more of this wonderful state he made his new home and learn a new trade he loved. Buddy spent the rest of his retired life golfing, traveling with his wife in their 5th wheel camper, but most of all being a huge part of their grandchildren’s lives.

He leaves behind his three children John Witzenbocker III and his wife Nancy of Sag Harbor, NY, Donn Witzenbocker and his wife Patricia of Merrimack, NH, JoAnn and her husband Jim Bailey Sr of Merrimack, NH. As well as his grandchildren Jayne, John IV, Doug, Devan and Kyle Witzenbocker, Melissa Berube, Jim Jr and Kaitlin Bailey, and one great-grandson Lucas Witzenbocker.

The family will hold a graveside service for Buddy and Dottie at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, New Hampshire on September 28th at 1pm. Following there will be a celebration of life at the Bailey residence in Merrimack, NH starting at 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Buddy’s memory to Rose Haven Assisted Living Home in Merrimack, NH.
