Endicott Park, industrial carnival

industrial carnival

This photo by Charles A. Langdell, great uncle of Polly Cote of Milford, and it was probably taken Oct. 6, 1911, when Milford held a big industrial carnival. Langdell and his family went ‘to the high school grounds to see the exhibits,’ as noted by Charles’ mother, Cate, in her diary entry for that day. The ‘high school’ is the current Bales School building on Elm Street, Milford, and the carnival was held over three days, at the Congregational Church, Endicott Park, Town Hall and Eagle Hall. The town also held a huge parade. Note all the Ford automobiles, as well as the horse and buggies.
