Boys Soccer
Sabers top Generals, fall in quarterfinal
Three goals within a five-minute span during the second half was all the offense needed to make this Division II preliminary round boys soccer game a thriller. The No. 10 Sabers edged No. 7 John Stark, 2-1.
Cameron Watson gave the Sabers the lead, heading home a Mason Young pass.
Just 31 seconds later, the seventh-seeded Generals (11-6) nailed the equalizer when lead striker Ryan Nelson connected on a quality back-post finish.
Souhegan (7-7-2) would score the eventual game-winner with less than eight minutes to play, as Keelan MacKenzie’s service from 35 yards out, into the back post, found Thomas Hornor’s head and then net.
Souhegan goalie Will Facques and Stark goalie Chase Patterson recorded seven saves each.
However, second-seeded Pembroke (17-1) scored in the 69th and 76th minutes to record a 2-0 win over 10th-seeded Souhegan (7-7-2) in the Division III boys soccer quarterfinals.
Sabers keeper Will Facques made six saves in defeat, while the Spartans’ Tyler Smith secured the shutout with seven saves.

Division II prelims
No. 7 Goffstown 3, No. 10 Milford 2 (2OT)
Tenth-seeded Milford (8-6-3) rallied from a 2-0 first-half deficit to force overtime, before eventually falling 3-2 in double overtime to seventh-seeded Goffstown (13-4) in double-overtime.
The Spartans first goal came courtesy of a Goffstown own goal two minutes into the second half. The equalizer came off the foot of Erin McGuire on a penalty kick 10 minutes later.
Milford controlled play for roughly 80 percent of the match, according to coach Russell Mathews.
His Spartans outshot the Grizzlies 26-8.
Goffstown would score the game-winning goal with two minutes remaining in the second extra session.
No. 5 Oyster River 2, No. 12 Souhegan 0
Souhegan (7-7-3) was unable to make it to the quarterfinals despite several good offensive chances to tie the game at one. Unfortunately for the 12th-seeded Sabers, fifth-seeded Oyster River got an insurance goal in the final five minutes to avoid the upset.
Division IV Prelims
No. 4 Profile School 5,
No. 13 Wilton-Lyndeborough 0
Wilton is now 6-11 despite getting 13 saves from backup goalkeeper Naomi Wight. Danni Bird and Megan VanderWoude also played well in the loss.
