Trudel shines at XC invitational

Souhegan High sophomore Chloe Trudel had a spectacular Sunday, coasting home to victory in the Bobcat Invitational Cross Country Meet, hosted by Oyster River High School at Demmerit Hills Farm in Lee.

Trudel covered the 5k in 19:41, cranking out the big win on a very tough course and helping lead the Sabers to second overall to Phillips Exeter Academy.

“(Trudel) made a strong move at the two-mile mark and surged ahead for good,” said Sabers coach Geoff Wilson, noting the victory was be a margin of over 30 seconds.

Souhegan’s Mackienzie Hayden was fourth overall in 20:30, besting the fifth-place runner in the field of 124 by over 50 seconds.

Saber freshman Masho Primmer placed ninth in 21:51, just ahead of Milford sophomore Abbey Halloran in 10th.

Emma Hererro (24th, 22:33) and Adrianna Zlotnick (32nd, 22:51) also run strong for the Souhegan girls.

On the boys side, Souhegan placed sixth overall and Milford was 14th.

Spartan junior Caleb Korthals was the top area finisher, placing 13th in 17:46.

Souhegan junior Ethan McFee and freshman Kariso Anderson earned top 25 finishes in the 139-runner boys field.

McFee was 20th in 18:04, while Anderson was 22nd (18:17).

Volleyball

MILFORD 3, PELHAM 0

Emma Tronkowski (11 assists, eight kills, four digs, three aces), Kailyn Chamberlain (10 assists, nine digs, seven kills, three aces) and Briana Arnoldy (six kills, two blocks) paced a Spartan sweep. Milford is now 3-1.

Boys soccer

Souhegan 1

Danny Kennedy (one goal) and Andy Basque (one goal) lead the Cavs (2-2-1) past the Sabers. Ryan Coutu had a total of 13 saves in net for HB. Souhegan’s (0-5) Ethan Ramm scored the lone goal off of a steal. Hollis Brookline visits Manchester West on Tuesday.

Souhegan travels to ConVal on Friday.

Both teams took the game to the bitter end before ending in a tie. Nathan Pettengill scored for the Spartans (2-1-2).

Reilly Hanson and Logan Harwood both played excellent in the match.

The Cavaliers (3-0) pick up a home win against the Sabers (2-2-1). Renee LeBlanc and Tasha White were the goal scorers. Goalie Maggie Crooks was solid in net with 12 saves, while Paisely Broadhurst played lock down defense.
