Milford steamrolls Sanborn

The Spartans played a monster defensive game, holding Sanborn to a mere 93 yards of offense over the sloppy going in Kingston and winning

34-7.

Alex Taylor (three sacks) and Colton Burrows dominated up front for Milford, which is now 5-2 on the year.

Owen Zalenski paced Milford, which burst to a 28-0 halftime lead. The senior rang up 139 rushing yards with a pair of touchdowns.

“Zalenski was a stud. He just pounded them,” said coach Keith Jones.

Zalenski shouldered the load for injured Junior Ughu, who is expected to miss next week’s game with ConVal as well. Tristyn Shattuck ran for 95 yards and a TD. Gavin Urda and Caden Zalenski added rushing scores.

“We really felt like they had played everybody tough,” said Jones. “We certainly went into the game not thinking this was a 1-5 team. Their games with Souhegan, Hollis and even Alvirne could have gone another way. So we just took care of things.”

The Spartans continued their push from 2-6 to the playoffs.

Right now, it’s all about getting healthy, namely Ughu who is expected to return for the season finale at Alvirne.

“We’re getting there. We want to just keep playing well,” said Spartans coach Keith Jones.
