The Bedford Firefighters Association announces the application for the 2017 Norman Richards Scholarship. Applications are available at bedfordfirenh.com.

The scholarship is open to legal residents of the town of Bedford. The applicant must be a senior in a secondary school at the time of application. The applicant must be a candidate for admission to an accredited four year degree granting college or university. Applications must be received to the committee by April 15.

The Bedford Firefighters Association is a nonprofit organization made up of members of the Bedford Fire Department. The purpose of the Association is to interact with the Bedford Fire Department with its responsibilities regarding the suppression of fire, the performance of rescue services, and fire prevention programs. The association also accepts and raises funds for the purchase of equipment for the fire department and rescue services.

The members of the association raise funds through special programs and the annual Bedford Firemen’s Ball held each May. Through fundraising, the members are able to support the purchase of necessary equipment to protect the citizens of Bedford, provide the fire prevention program each year, as well as fund the Norman Richards Scholarship.
