Bedford Rotary hears from school official

The Bedford Rotary Club invited Bedford Superintendent of Schools, Chip McGee, to address the club on Aug. 16 at its regular breakfast meeting.

McGee said the new school year budget is $72 million for 4500 students, at a cost per student of $13,000. He also said health care costs for teachers, paraprofessionals and custodians have been renegotiated and that academic achievement continues upward. Student enrollment appears steady with a possible slight uptick. The first day of school for the 2017-18 school year was Aug. 29.

The club complemented McGee for his leadership making the Bedford School District one of the top in New Hampshire.

The Bedford Rotary Club meets each Wednesday for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Manchester Country Club. Visitors are always welcome. For more information contact President Bob MacPherson 714-3077 or bob.
