BEDFORD – Cheryl North, 76, of Manchester, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries when her 2023 Chrysler Pacifica collided with a concrete barrier at the Bedford Toll Plaza.
According to State Police, troopers responded to the scene at 9:17 a.m. on Nov. 18. North had one adult passenger, who was also seriously injured, as well as three dogs.
The preliminary investigation indicated that North was traveling south on the F.E. Everett Turnpike when her vehicle veered out of its lane and into the concrete barrier.
North and her passenger were taken to the hospital while two of the three dogs died in the crash.
Three of the southbound toll lanes were closed for two-and-a-half hours while troopers conducted their investigation.
Members of the Bedford police and fire departments, the Merrimack police and fire departments and the state Department of Transportation also responded to the incident.
The crash remains under investigation; however, it appears that speed was a factor.
