Karate studio’s October classes to benefit Nashua School District

Neil Stone Karate Academy in Brookline is donating proceeds from all October classes to benefit the Nashua school district.

BROOKLINE – Neil Stone, owner of Neil Stone Karate Academy in Brookline is donating proceeds from all October classes to benefit the Nashua school district.

“We’re doing a fundraiser for the whole month of October for the Nashua school district,” Stone said. “We’re inviting people to come in and take classes and for anyone who joins us, the cost is $20 for the month, unlimited classes.”

Any money generated from these classes will go directly to the Nashua school system.

Stone, who has children in the Nashua school district, has done other fundraisers in the past for other districts.

“Right now, with the pandemic, we took it upon ourselves to help,” he said. “I don’t know how much this will generate. We’ve done similar six-week classes in the past for other districts and have had up to 20 people in those particular classes.”

This limited, low cost fee will also include virtual classes on Zoom.

“For online, there is no class size limitations,” Stone said. “And they are interactive. It’s not hard to do at all- we’ve been doing them since March so we’ve gotten very good at them.”

Stone said even when things get back to a semblance of regularity, he intends to continue offering virtual classes because they are effective and people enjoy them.

“There are waiting rooms for the virtual classes,” he said. “So, people need to register with their email address and the name they’ll be using in the class atmosphere. Because, with the waiting room, we can allow people to come in but for security purposes, we need to have that information.”
