Water quality programs
Wilton – The Wilton Public/Gregg Free Library is offering two special programs on water quality at the Collaborative Space at the Second Congregational Church Parish Hall on Gregg Street.
Both programs are led by Michelle Decoteau, the MS 4 Stormwater Manager, a ProjectWET teacher, and a Stormwater Inspector.
The programs are free and open to the public, but registration is required. Call the library at 603-654-2581 or email: SandyL@wiltonlibrarynh.org.
• Water Testing, May 12, June 21, July 14, and Aug. 11, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Learn to collect water quality information in your back yard. Bring a water sample from a lake, pond, or neighborhood stream and compare it to other locations in Wilton. Be prepared to get wet. We will test the water together in Stony Brook near the Collaborative Center using water test kits available at the library.
• Learn About Rain Gardens, May 17, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Raingardens make a difference in water quality and increase the value of your yard. Learn how and why to install a raingarden, what plants are best, and go home with a raingarden plant to get you started. The program will follow the guidance of Soak Up The Rain NH, where homeowners can learn about other Do It Yourself stormwater management projects.
The programs are made possible in part by the N.H. State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
