AMHERST – A surprise was in store on July 17 for a breakfast crowd who surely suspended in mid-sip their cups of hot coffee or bites of bacon at MaryAnn’s Diner on Craftsman Lane in Amherst.

The head-turner was launched by the lunchtime visit of a team of eight professional wrestlers, men and women of small stature and big fan followings. The visitors are a part of a hefty roster of showmen. And women. They arrived in a big white tour van.

The athletes are globally renowned as a rambunctious bunch of celebrities — Little Mania Midget Wrestling All-Stars. The eight show stars and their emcee hunkered down for breakfasts of orange juice, eggs, pancakes and chatter.

The wrestlers are named Nasty Boy; Huggie; El Diablo; Chyna Doll; Almighty Zuna; Shocker; Kassie and Walter. Team emcee Jimmy Mac contains the chaos. Not.

“This event brought joy to their fans and highlighted the community spirit of Amherst, showcasing how local establishments such as MaryAnn’s Diner support and celebrate unique events,” said Tristan David, Miami-based owner of Tristan David Events LLC and Little Mania Midget Wrestling All-Stars publicist.

The wrestlers at the ’50s-themed diner, replete with a jukebox, “rock ‘n’ roll” records on the walls and back-in-the-day memorabilia, were welcomed by Vaughn Palmer, general manager of the Amherst restaurant and a key member for more than 30 years of the MaryAnn’s Diner family of four locations — Amherst, Derry, Windham and Salem.

David adds that the tour appearances are wholesome and geared for all ages.

“The Little Mania Midget Wrestling Experience is one shared nationwide at family-friendly events that are electrified with high-flying, action-packed matches that appeal to fans of all ages,” he added.

The cast of performers, all standing less than 5-feet tall, also bring a unique dynamic to a Hulk Hogan Reality TV Show, broadcast on TruTV.

The team has performed in nearly a dozen states this summer. Regional opportunities to see the members of the Little Mania Midget Wrestling All-Stars include shows at these venues in New Hampshire:

— Thursday, July 30, High Octane Saloon in Laconia, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

— Friday, July 31, Hudson Speedway in Hudson, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

— Saturday, Aug. 1, Claremont Motorsports Park in Claremont, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
