AMHERST – A Saturday opportunity to add a few more pots of perennials, more hydrangeas, more hanging baskets and a metal garden sculpture, or two, was easily arranged on Aug. 22 with the launch of a festive Rebloom Festival, an annual event hosted by Shane Robinson, owner since 2012 of Sunny Valley Farms in Amherst.

Live music played all day, performed by Black & Bluez, whose band members are based in Newburyport, Mass. The four musicians of regional renown include leader Tom Zack, Bob Singer, Bert Snow, guitarists, and Snow’s brother, Erik Snow, wailing on the drums.

Local winery representatives offering a diverse range of samples and sales of popular vintages were well represented at the event.

The businesses include LaBelle Winery, whose locations are found in Amherst and Derry, Zorvino Vineyards, based in Sandown, and Averill House Vineyard, located in Brookline. Attendees savored Chardonnays, Pinot Grigios, Sauvignon Blancs and other varieties derived from the ripest of fruits and grapes.

In addition, Tony Sirois, the owner of Smokin’ Bones BBQ Sauce, based in Troy, served up some spicier samples — handcrafted barbecue sauces. Varieties including Honey, Garlic & Maple and Jalapeno Maple BBQ enticed an avid cadre of tasters and buyers.

The indoor gift shop at Sunny Valley Farms offers handmades by local craftsmen and other intriguing products. Fluffy stuffed animals, custom greeting cards, woodworked utensils and serving bowls found buyers.

The Sunny Valley Farms indoor market, alongside the gift shop, is a go-to for a full line of Stonewall Kitchen products including jams and jellies that always seem to find some crunchy toast or the center of a peanut butter sandwich.

The market also carries vitamins, organics, honey, spices by the spoonful or the cup, chocolates sold individually or in multiples, plus candied ginger.

Jake’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Cakes, a Nashua enterprise owned since 2003 by Roni Vetter, provides Sunny Valley Farms dozens of pints in the freezer case. An in-store ice cream bar stocked with gallons of her top flavors were scooped for eventgoers who mostly repaired to an adjoining patio.

Another attraction at the Rebloom Festival drew seafood lovers to a mobile caterer whose logo on the food truck, Cousins Maine Lobster, indicated that inside were Shark Tank television celebrity entrepreneurs, or, more likely, their representatives, providing Maine lobsters, lobster rolls, steamed lobster tails and lobster bisque direct from the ocean.

The conclusion of the Rebloom Festival was ripe with thankyous from staffers and from Shane Robinson, whose family has excelled in horticulture since 1988 and who offers delivery of garden purchases as a customer service.
