About 50 teams slated to compete at FIRST event

Hollis/Brookline High School Team 1073, The FORCE, invites all to attend the FIRST Robotics Granite State Regional from March 3-5 and welcomes all who are interested in seeing some heart-pounding competition.

Held in the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, the tournament features more than 50 from Brazil and nine states – California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The three-day competition is the climax of the six weeks of strenuous work the members – students and adult mentors alike – put into designing, programming and building a robot to complete a task given in January.

FIRST is a program established by Segway inventor Dean Kamen to engage high school, middle school and even elementary school students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Look for the FORCE team’s distinctive mechanical-claw T-shirts.
