Hollis Woman’s Club to host quilter

HOLLIS – The Hollis Woman’s Club will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Lawrence Barn on Depot Road in Hollis.

All area women are invited to attend

Starting at 9 a.m. for social hour, the program will feature Audrey Augin, a Hollis resident and well-known artist who will discuss and display the quilts she has made over the last 30 years.

Starting as a traditional quilter in the early 1980s, Audrey became fascinated with the contemporary quilt movement. Her work often includes silk that she paints and then burns.

Quilting is not merely a craft but an art movement that provides and accepts ideas from other art forms.

Audrey has studied with Nancy Crow and Natasha Kempers Cullen, whose works continue to inspire her. She makes art in Hollis and is a member of the Hollis Woman’s Club and The Hollis Art Society.

Please come to enjoy the program and to find out more about this active club. No RSVP is necessary.
