Question 1: Do you support the drive to save the historic Farley Building? Please explain.

I support the drive to save the Farley Building (“White Building”). I attended classes in the building and admire the craftsmanship and architectural details of the building. The building has a special place in my heart, as it does for many other long time residents of Hollis. It is an important piece of Hollis history.

Question 2: What is your opinion that the financial burden for preservation and restoration be funded by grants and donations rather than tax dollars?

The financial burden is what I struggle with as we decide what is the best way to pay for the restoration of the building. I believe in the end, this project will take on a life similar to the process used for the Lawrence Barn. The funding for the Lawrence Barn was a mix of private donations and town tax dollars. In this current economic environment, this make take several years to completely fund.
