Hollis Town Band hosts Pops Concert

HOLLIS – The 60-member Hollis Town Band will hold its annual Pops Concert, with a dessert buffet, Sunday, March 25, at the Alpine Grove Banquet Facility.

Doors will open with the Hollis Dixieland Band playing at 1:30 p.m., followed by the concert band at 2:30 p.m. There will be a dessert buffet, and raffle prizes from local merchants will be awarded.

Guest artists include Richard Mills narrating Paul Tripp’s “Tubby the Tuba” with soloist Jim Frens on tuba and Suellen Davidson singing “The Water is Wide.”

Instrumental soloists Rex Atwood (tenor sax) will perform “Blue Moon” and Rick Bolling (trumpet) will perform Ennio Morricone’s “Gabriel’s Oboe.”

The Hollis Town Band will perform a variety of popular pieces, including Ed Madden’s “Goin’ West,” Shostakovich’s “Finale” to Symphony 5, Jean Sibelius’ “Finlandia” and the premiere of “Jersey Boys,” featuring the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

Tickets are $21, and must be purchased by March 14 from any band member or by mailing a check, payable to “Hollis Town Band,” to Hollis Town Band, c/o David Bailey, 26 Seminole Drive, Nashua, NH 03063, to be picked up at the concert.
