Summer classes offered at Beaver Brook

HOLLIS – Have you ever made a fort in the woods? Caught a frog or a toad? Stayed up late to stargaze? Cooked a meal on hot coals in a fire? At Beaver Brook Nature Center in Hollis, there will be 34 classes offered this summer for students from pre-school through 10th grade.

Each class gets students outside to enjoy nature and learn through inquiry and exploration.

Leadership Adventure is offered for students entering 8th-10th grade and includes a back country overnight camp out and wilderness challenges that help develop leadership qualities.

In Forest Forts, students learn about natural building materials, creating authentic survival shelters and fun forts, while learning wilderness skills as well.

On a smaller level, Enchanted Forest will create gnome houses and magical spaces in the woods.

Rocky Ridge Explorers will learn about the fascinating rocks the earth is made of and hike fun trails to find porcupine dens.

To further an interest in farming or gardening, there are classes Farmyard Fun, Buds to Berries, or Earth Sprouts.

If art or theater is more your style, try Acting Outside, Picture This Photography or Nature’s Palette. Learn about New Hampshire’s Native Woodland People in Abenaki Footsteps.
