Hollis resident Tristan Allard, shown, a student at Applewild School in Fitchburg, Mass., participated in the Central West Massachusetts History Day competition on May 3. He placed third for his display titled “The Americans with Disabilities Act – The Act of Change.”

He was also awarded a special award – The Clara Barton Birthplace Museum Special History Day Award” – for the best accounting of a medical conflict and compromise in history. Tristan competed at the state level on April 7 in Winchester, Mass. The winners of this competition go on to the national competition in College Park, Md. on June 10.
