Marguerite’s Place serves 32 local families

HOLLIS – Despite major logistical hurdles needed to keep everyone safe, once again Easter food boxes along with nine Easter baskets for kiddos at Marguerite’s Place, Inc. were packed on April 4 for local distribution.

Fifty boxes were made. Thirty-two went to families in Hollis and Brookline, nine went to residents at Marguerite’s Place, and nine went to the Tolles Street Mission food pantry in Nashua.

Each box was loaded with canned and other non-perishable food. Some of the items were purchased by the Congregational Church of Hollis and some donated by the Scouts from Scouting for Food.

Thank you to everyone who donates to Scouting for Food each fall. Each box also had a 5-pound bag of fresh potatoes, PAAS Easter egg dye kits, a 14-ounce bag of jelly beans, and a can of pineapple rings.

Hand-made Easter cards and homemade cookies also were included in each box.

Distribution of the Easter food boxes and Easter baskets took place on April 6. In addition to the box of food, each recipient was given a spiral ham and a dozen eggs to round out their Easter meal supplies.

Members of the church delivered the boxes to Marguerite’s Place and to Tolles Street Mission food pantry. Nurses from Hollis Upper Elementary School, Hollis Primary School, Richard Maghakian Memorial School, Captain Samuel Douglass Academy, Hollis Brookline Middle School and Hollis Brookline High School came by and picked up the boxes that were delivered locally to Hollis and Brookline families.
