RISE elects officers; awards scholarships

NASHUA – Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, The Rivier Institute for Senior Education (RISE) conducted its annual election of officers and scholarship awards online on April 30th. New officers, elected for 2020-2021, are: Cynthia Geiger, President; Lisa Marie Clark, Vice-President; Susan Hart, Secretary and Marty Guild, Treasurer.

A $1,000 RISE Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Julie W., an undergraduate in her senior year as a psychology major. Mikayla R., a graduate educational administration student, was also awarded a $1,000 RISE Memorial Scholarship.

The RISE Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually, based on financial need, to a full- or part-time Rivier student with preference given to a student who has earned more than 30 credits at Rivier and is currently enrolled in at least two courses per semester.

A $1,000 Dr. Rose Arthur Scholarship was awarded to Bonnie W., a senior professional studies student in the Bachelor of Science Nursing Program.

The Dr. Rose Arthur Scholarship was established in honor of the founder of RISE. Dr. Arthur also served as Dean of the Undergraduate Evening School. The fund supports evening students who have demonstrated a commitment to the greater Nashua community through volunteer work or public service.
