New Ipswich man injured in Brookline snowmobile crash
BROOKLINE – Erik Hurtibise, 33, of New Ipswich, sustained serious, but nonlife-threatening injuries when his snowmobile crashed on the evening of Feb. 27.
According to the state Fish and Game Department, officers responded to Cleveland Hill Road at 8 p.m. and found that Hurtibise and a group of friends had been riding through a network of maintained trails.
While travelling downhill, Hurtibise was thrown from his snowmobile while making a sharp left turn to avoid a large rock.
One of his friends called 911 and stayed with Hurtibise until first responders arrived. Hurtibise was then taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.
After further investigation, conservation officers determined that the crash was the result of inexperience.
