Gently worn formal wear wanted – The YMCA of Greater Nashua is partnering with the Faith Hope & Love Foundation to collect gently worn formal wear. The foundation hosts its annual ‘Formal Wear for a Fancy Affair’ event providing formal wear to young men and women looking to attend prom at no cost to them. The event is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, at The Center Lodge at Plymouth State University.

Donations accepted (all sizes):

• Gently used formal gowns (prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses)

• Gently used formal shoes (for both men and women)

• Unused makeup, cologne, and hair products

• Gently used suits, ties, formal jackets, button-up shirts

Collection boxes are located in the lobby of the Merrimack YMCA (6 Henry Clay Drive) and the Nashua YMCA (24 Stadium Drive) and will be available through March 31. For more information, or for more ways to help with this cause, check them out at faithhopeandlove

Volunteer NH seeks award nominees

CONCORD – Volunteer NH is seeking nominations for the 2018 Outstanding Volunteer Manager of the Year Award. This award, created by former Gov. John Sununu, honors New Hampshire volunteer administrators and salutes their excellence in leadership. This year, the awardee will be recognized during the 2018 Governor’s Conference on Volunteerism on May 23.

To be considered for this award, the nominee must have worked at least two years (paid or unpaid) as a volunteer manager, must have demonstrated excellence in program management, exhibited initiative in developing available resources, and be directly responsible for the development and management of a volunteer program at the local and/or state level. Past recipients will not be considered.

Those wishing to nominate will be asked to submit a nomination statement (not to exceed 500 words) and two letters of testimony (not to exceed 750 words). Nomination statements and letters of testimony should include a summary of the volunteer program or activity that the nominee directs, including the number of volunteers and staff supervised and the impact of the program.

Town of Merrimack public notice

Filing period for Town Offices to be elected at Town Meeting on April 10, 2018 is Wednesday, Feb. 21, through Friday, March 2, at 5 p.m.

To be elected:

• Three councilors for three years

• One councilor for one year.

• Two Ethics Committee members for three years

• Three library trustees for three years

• One moderator for two years

• One supervisor of the checklist for six years

• One town clerk/tax collector for three years

• One Trustee of the Trust Funds for three years

Candidates must file with the town clerk to have their name placed on the ballot and must be a registered voter and domiciled in Merrimack. (RSA 669:6, 669:19) Candidates for Town Council must also have been domiciled in Merrimack for at least one year. (Town Charter Article 3-4, C)
