Autumn, the most colorful season of the year, has arrived, with orange pumpkins visible in the field, green and purple eggplant and squash among the yield – red and yellow leaves adorn local trees, as folks pick apples with recipes in mind, planning gatherings and events of every kind. In celebration of this season of caring and sharing, with upcoming holidays on the horizon, the Mailbag is glad to be there for people looking to give to others and communicate for those in need.

Making room at the table

“I am kindly asking if anyone out there has a buffet table for donation as my kids are growing and we are in need of a table with more room to celebrate special dinners like for Thanksgiving and Christmas with all the plates needed around for the seven of us” writes Lucy W. of Nashua (LTR 2,810). “I would greatly appreciate it since it will help to make our special holidays even more special. Thank you!” Family gatherings including dinners often play a big part in the holidays and especially for a big family include ‘making room at the table’. Electric stove available, for ‘what’s cooking’

“I have a Frigidaire electric stove, almond color, about 15 years-old, in pretty good condition, and works” says Wendy R. of Mason (LTR 1,826). “If someone needs a stove this would be a good one.” Frigidaire  is the US consumer and commercial home appliances brand subsidiary of European parent company Electrolux.  Frigidaire was founded as the Guardian Frigerator Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed the first self-contained refrigerator (invented by Nathaniel B. Wales and Alfred Mellows) in 1916. Definitely a ‘name brand’ that has been around for awhile, respected and well-known. More quilting supplies for cancer patients welcomed

“My cancer patients are still sewing up a storm and while people are still calling as of a week ago offering quilting fabric, supplies, etc, I have a new phone number that I’m asking you to pass along to your generous readers” writes Sandy L. of Hudson (LTR 3,139).

“Just wanted to let you know that there were too many names to mention in response to my request for quilting supplies a few months ago. We got tons of wonderful fabric and supplies and will continue to accept any quilting donations to keep these ladies going.” Glad to hear things are going well for this talented lady, a quilting instructor who generously devotes so much of her time to helping others. Still looking to adopt a kitten

“One of my cats recently passed away and I am still looking to provide a loving home for a kitten to join my little furry family of two other cats” says Jan C. of Nashua (LTR 2,849). “I have room in my home and my heart for a kitten companion and would love to hear from anyone looking to rehome a kitten.” While the number of cats and kittens in NH is impossible to determine, a standard litter can be from one to five kittens. Some cats have up to 10, and litter sizes have been reported to be as many as 19. ‘Movies, he’s Got Movies’!

“I have a large box of assorted movies on VHS tapes for anyone who would like to have them” says Bert the Picker now of Wilton (LTR 1,775). “Cinderella, The Lion King, and Snow White are among the family-friendly Disney titles, while Carlito’s Way, with Al Pacino as an ex-druglord fighting to escape his violent past; Clint Eastwood as Bronco Billy, in a comedy especially for anyone who’s ever wanted to run off and join the circus; Notting Hill, with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant as an unlikely couple to fall in love; and Twister, a ‘gale force’ movie with special effects are just a few among the many others. Hope someone will enjoy these.” Downsizing, sorting, organizing, reorganizing, and re-reorganizing is the ‘name of the game’ after moving, with lots of things ‘turning up’, some not even looking familiar. This year, our Coliseum seniors, with help from Milford SPM (Stewart Property Management Senior Housing) seniors, have accomplished 4,299 cards!
