Merrimack High School FIRST Robotics team to host second annual Cars, Robots and Coffee event

MERRIMACK – For the second year, Chop Shop 166, Merrimack High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition team will be hosting a Cars, Robots and Coffee event.
The event will be held at the high school, 38 McElwain St. on Aug. 24 from 8 a.m. to noon. The event is a blend of a traditional Cars and Coffee event mixed with demonstrations from local FIRST Robotics teams.
“Cars, Robots and Coffee is one of Chop Shop’s most unique events,” said Laura, a member of Chop Shop 166. “It gives us a chance to connect with a broader community beyond our focused youth outreach, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone there.”
Automobile enthusiasts have been hosting Cars and Coffee events for years but merging FIRST Robotics into the car show is something very new.
“As a mentor for Team 166, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible innovation our students pour into their robotics,” said Ian MacGregor, a lead mentor at Chop Shop 166. “That drive is what inspired Cars, Robots and Coffee – a unique gathering that unites the timeless appeal of classic and modern automobiles, with the cutting-edge marvels our FRC team have designed. It’s an unparalleled opportunity to experience robotics demonstrations alongside stunning vehicles, all in one exciting morning.”
Coffee, from Union Coffee Co., and pastries from local shops will be available for purchase at the event with all proceeds going to Chop Shop 166.
Anyone who would like to be part of the car show can reserve a space online at ChopShop166.com. Registration is $10 in advance or $20 the day of the event.
Title sponsors for the event include Lou’s Custom Exhaust of Milford, Auto Care Plus and Union Coffee Co.
