Jacquelyn L. Ferrency

Jacquelyn L. Ferrency, 73, of Milford passed away on Sunday, August 23rd, 2020 at her home. She lived with metastatic breast cancer for four years before facing death head-on, with grace and courage.

Jacquie was born in Litchfield, CT on August 10th, 1947 to the late Oscar and Dorothy (Beers) Richard. Her husband of 47 years, Stephen A. Ferrency, died in 2014. Jacquie will be deeply missed by her partner, Judy Eriksen of Merrimack; her son Alan Ferrency, his wife Marla Ferkett Ferrency and their children Martine and Ezra, all of Pittsburgh, PA; and her daughter Sarah Ferrency, her husband Phil Burdick and their children Esther and Iona, all of Sitka, AK. Jacquie’s brother and sister, Yvonne Richard and Thomas Richard, and their families also mourn her passing.

Above all, Jacquie added to the beauty of the world. She was an unmatched craftsperson, and although she would never say so herself, an artist. She was self-employed as a silver and goldsmith for over three decades, adding joy to innumerable lives through her distinctive work. Jacquie also invested deeply in her family, supporting her husband and children with the mundane tasks of 20th century womanhood, allowing them to flourish. In retirement, she and Steve traveled in their RV, and she dedicated herself to the holiday craft fair at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Milford. Educated as an art teacher, Jacquie mentored other craftspeople throughout her life. Her children and grandchildren are all “makers”, and largely owe this identity to her influence. She took great joy and pride in their craftsmanship and other accomplishments.
