Joseph Benjamin Stella

Joseph Benjamin Stella, 75, died September 18, 2020 in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Born in East Boston on September 26, 1944 to Benjamin and Mary (Formicola) Stella, Joseph as a young man was involved in many civic organizations like the Elks Club of Saugus, Massachusetts where he became the youngest Exalted Ruler in 1971.

Following a career as a mechanical engineer, he retired in Milford, New Hampshire, where he was active in the Milford Lions Club and a member of that town’s School Budget Committee. Joseph helped to establish programs at the local high school’s vocational center to encourage students towards careers in engineering professions.

Once he was convinced that the Red Sox games were also broadcast in Georgia, he transplanted to Sandy Springs in 2015 to avoid having his wife, Barbara, shovel any more snow. Joseph enjoyed traveling to Key Largo every year and spending time with his three beloved dogs.

Joseph is survived by his wife Barbara Volante-Stella, son Michael and spouse, Michele Ramsey, of Reading, Pennsylvania, and son David and spouse, Stephen DiGiacomo, of Atlanta.

He will be missed by all whose life he brightened with his sense of humor and charm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Milford Lions Club. Checks can be made out to Milford Lions Charities and sent to Milford Lions Club, PO Box 274, Milford, NH, 03055.
