Maxine B. Erikson

Maxine B. Erikson, 100, a longtime resident of Milford, NH died after a period of declining health on December 19, 2020 at Fairview Nursing Home, Hudson, NH.

She was born in Keene, NH on August 24, 1920, a daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Debelle) Butler.

Mrs. Erikson was well known in Milford, having worked for years in the meat department of the Milford First National Store, and later as a school crossing guard as well as the first female member of the Milford Police Department.

She enjoyed singing and entertaining with the vocal group “Crazy 8” and traveling with her husband Norman.

She was an avid collector of small trinkets and antiques. A hobby that she shared with her mother, the two of them spent many happy hours attending yards sales and “junking”. Later in life she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and the comic strip “pickles”.

Mrs. Erikson was proud to have reached 100 years of age and having voted in the 2020 presidential election.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Erikson.

Family members include her son, David and his wife Diana of Saint Albans, VT and Green Valley, AZ; and her daughter, Sherry Travers of Warren, CT; as well as three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

In accordance with Mrs. Erikson’s wishes, there will be no calling hours held. In the spring, she will be buried next to her husband in Pine Grove Cemetery in Marlborough, NH at a date and time to be announced.
