We are saddened to announce the passing of Juanita Wood, 92, born November 27, 1931 in West Palm Beach FL. to the late Grover Clifton Bates and Minnie Lee Bates. She was the widow of Howard R. Wood to whom she was married for 41 years and pre-deceased her on February 8, 1990. After the death of her husband, she had lived in Leesburg, FL and more recently in Charlottesville, VA.

Juanita was formerly from Mont Vernon, NH where they raised their three daughters. She passed away peacefully on November 30, 2023 at Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, VA after a short illness with family by her side.

She was the proud mother of three daughters and son in laws, Catherine (Cathy) Kettmann and her husband Greg of Bow NH, Sharon (Shari) Wales, and her husband Tom of Chichester, NH, and Karla Williams and her husband Tom of Culpeper, VA She leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Juanita was preceded by 2 brothers Sherman and Raymond Bates, their wives Norma and Lucille and a sister Virginia Burton and her husband Bill.

In her free time she enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV, spending time at their summer cottage in Moultonboro, NH, playing the piano, singing, crafts, playing bridge, and enjoying her times having coffee with family and friends.

Juanita touched all of us with the sunshine that flowed from within her, and with her positive outlook on life.

There will be no visiting hours and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
