All-state athletes named

The state’s softball coaches named their all-state honorees and a pair of area athletes earned top awards.

Milford’s Raven Comtois, in Division II, and Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Lexi Balam, in Division IV, were voted Players of the Year by the coaches.

Milford’s Abby Stillwagon and Souhegan’s Maddie Robicheau picked up first-team all-state honors in Division II. Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Janel Bachand claimed first-team status in Division IV.

The 2018 Hanover Lions “Byrne Cup” Twin State Senior All-Star lacrosse games are set for Saturday at Hanover High School.

The girls game is slated for 12:30 p.m. and the boys game is at 3 p.m.

Proceeds from the game which pits the tops seniors from New Hampshire against the top seniors from Vermont will benefit the many charities funded by the Lions.

Competing in the prestigious games will be three recent Souhegan graduates.

Abby Cranney, a midfielder, and attack Brigid Casey will represent the Sabers in the girls contest. Defender Parker Belowski was named to the Granite State boys squad.
