Roundup: Saber cross country 2nd

Arielle Zlotnick and Chloe Trudel finished fourth and seventh respectively to lead the Souhegan girls cross country team to a second place finish among the 21 teams competing at the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday.

Arielle crossed the line in 19:28, and Chloe in 19:35, both excellent times for the challenging course over fields and trails in Madbury. Phillips Exeter Academy earned first place honors, while Con-Val and host Oyster River finished 3rd and 4th in the team scoring. Adrianna Zlotnick, Jenny Ladd, and Sophie Unger finished within 10 seconds of each other, capturing 33rd, 36th, and 38th place. Molly Jennings and Emma Herrero also ran well for Souhegan, and were instrumental in the win, as they displaced the 5th runner from third place Con-Val.

Souhegan Boys fourth

The upstart Sabers, used pack running to capture fourth place in a competitive field of 21 teams at the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday. While not having a runner in the top ten, the Sabers packed their top 5 within a 43 second window to propel them to their best performance of the season.

Nathan Stine led the charge for Souhegan, placing 14th (17:22), followed by Thomas Headington (20th, 17:36), Carter Schade (30th, 17:56), Ethan McFee (31st, 17:57), and Mason Silk (32nd, 18:03). Bill Drake(62nd) and Andrew Strauss (69th) rounded out the varsity seven for the Sabers.

Girls Volleyball

Milford 3, ConVal 0

Gabby Monico tallied 11 kills to help the Spartans improve to 6-1 on the season (25-12, 25-8, 25-10). Emily Flaherty (nine aces) and Kailyn Chamberlin spread the ball around for nine assists each. Isabel Philbrick (seven kills) and Stella Crosby (two aces, five kills) also contributed in the win. Milford will travel to Coe-Brown on Friday.

Girls Soccer

Milford 1, Merrimack Valley 0

Syd Thibault scored the lone goal of the game halfway through the first half as the Spartans are now 5-1-1, snapping a two-game winless streak.

Katie Lorden had a solid game in net and Meghan Wood and Sophie Grill were strong defensively. Milford’s offense had even more chances with 15 shots on goal.

Wilton-Lyndeborough 6,

Portsmouth Christian 3

Elisabeth Jacob scored three goals and Sophia Sistachs pitched in a pair. Brooke Lane scored once, while Sam Yurcak dominated the action from her midfield spot. Janel Bachand pushed away eight saves. Lexi Balam, Kaitlin LoVerme, Emma Skelly , Avery Krug and Ella Kelley all played well.

Field Hockey

Milford 1, HB 0 (OT)

Sydney Kolasinksi scored the lone goal, assisted by Jenna D’Angelis. Playing strong defense were Caroline Boudreau and Erin Jasper for the Spartans in front of Lilly Moore, who made eight saves.

Boys Soccer

Pembroke 3, Milford 2

Paxton Ducharme and Zach Smith scored the goals for Milford, which falls to 1-7 with the tight loss.
