The Division II champion Sabers started their title defense off on a good note, taking four of six singles while sweeping doubles.

Singles winners included No.1 Sam Goddard (8-2), No. 2 Kyle Gibson (8-5), No. 4 Michael Dodge (8-2) and No. 6 Evan Loconto (8-3).

The teams of Goddard/Nicholas Marinelli (8-5), Gibson/Josh Lacaillade (8-2) and Dodge/James Zeollei all won.

The Sabers started the season off in style, cruising with singles wins by No. 1 Lila Morgan, 9-8 (7-5), No. 2 Zoe Garvey (8-6), No. 3 Maddie Daniel (8-3) and No. 5 Simmone Dodge (8-4). But sweeping doubles clinched things, as the teams of Morgan/Garvey (8-3), Daniel/Lily Hipp (8-5) and Sarah Kayser/Dodge (8-6) all came out on top.

Milford 1

The visiting Spartans managed just a win at No. 2 doubles with Sydney Kolasinski and Leslie MacGrath teaming for an 8-6 win. MacGrath also played the closest singles match for the Spartans in an 8-4 loss.

Milford hosts Bow on Thursday.
