Spartans, Warriors off to unbeaten starts

Softball

Milford 13, Pelham 0

Milford moves to 4-0 on the year as Jenna DeAngelis fired a one-hitter, striking out 13 with only one walk. Amanda Atkinson was a dynamo on offense, with three hits, including a solo homer, three runs scored and three RBIs. DeAngelis was also 3 for 4, and Ally Fortin hat two hits. Raven Comtois drilled a homer of her own in the third.

Milford 13, Lebanon 0

Atkinson played big at the plate knocking down a double and five RBIs, for the Spartans. Stephanie Stillwagon (RBI), Olivia Conforti (1 for 3) and Comtois (two doubles, three runs, RBI, stolen base) added to the high offensive output. DeAngelis threw a no hitter and struck out 12.

Wilton-Lyndeborough 17, Sunapee 5

The Warriors improved to 3-0 after trailing 5-1 in second inning then rallying for a 17-5 win in six innings.

The Warriors were paced by Sam Yurcak going 5 for 5 with 5 RBIs. Lexi Balamhad three hits to drive in four, while eighth-grader Abby Dowling had two hits and two RBIs. Balam allowed one earned run and four hits over six innings, fanning six in the win.

The Warriors opened with a doubleheader at Pittsfield, 15-0 and 23-2. Balam had three hits, while Brooke Lane, Janel Bachand and Emma Skelly all had two hits in the opener. Balam fanned 12 in five innings. In Game 2, Yurcak pitched her first high school game and collected the win. Balam pitched two innings and Lane finished the fifth inning. The three pitchers combined for a one hitter with seven strikeouts. Skelly had three hits, with Balam, Lane and Rachel Christino each had two hits.

Souhegan 12,

Hollis Brookline 1

Cameron Whitney (four hits, eight strikeouts) went the distance in the Sabers (1-1) win over the Cavaliers (0-2). Danielle Drobat hit a three run home run, while Ava VanBallegooyen added three hits and two RBIs for Souhegan. Despite the loss, Ally Johnson struck out nine batters for the Cavaliers. Sofia Barassi, Kara Lukovits, Skylar Mack, Jess Hubert and Abi Blasi notched base hits.

Baseball

Pelham 7, Milford 4

Brandon Shaw had two hits for the 1-3 Spartans, while Kolbe Heiple smacked a two-run double in the seventh. Ethan Golden got the start on the mound for Milford, going three innings and giving up one hit and striking out three. Max Fortin took the loss in relief.

Lebanon 13, Milford 5

Joe Shepard tallied his first varsity hit with a two RBI single, in the Spartans (1-2) loss. Heiple led the offense going 2 for 3 and Trevor Coyne added a triple. Brandon Shaw took the loss for the Spartans.

Hollis Brookline 8, Souhegan 7

Henri Boudreau (two RBIs) drove in the winning run, as the Cavaliers (2-0) take a walk off win against the Sabers (0-2). Max Mello had three RBIs including two to tie the game at 7-7. The Sabers intentionally walked Kyle Hsu and Nik Direnzo to load the bases. Boudreau pitched four innings and struck out five. Joe Messina added two doubles for the Cavaliers. Bobby Henline had one RBI and Nick Wilson had two RBIs for Souhegan.

Curtis Redd had four goals and Nick Jordan three but the Sabers fell to 1-1 after a Lancer sudden death goal in the extra session. Will Boyle had a goal and John Lohnes 13 saves in net for the Sabers, who visit Salem on

Wednesday.

Souhegan 12, Dover 5

Tyler Hall led the way with four goals, as the Sabers secure a win. Curtis Redd and Will Boyle tallied two goals a piece, while Connor Holland and Luke Manning added one goal each. Goalie John Lohnes made nine saves between the pipes.
