Milford girls win big

The Milford High girls enjoyed a big day in the NHIAA Division II Indoor Track State Meet, held on Sunday at Dartmouth College.

Milford placed fourth with 34 points, led by one individual champion.

Junior Renee Wilson simply crushed the field in the long jump, winning by over a foot. The Spartan leaper defended her state indoor title with a top jump of 17-6.75. Teammate Sarah Sawyer was fifth in the long jump at 16-1.75.

Robyn Krafft earned third in the shot put with a throw of 33-11, and Leslie McGrath took fourth in the high jump, clearing 5-feet.

Milford placed third in both the 4×200 and 4×800 meters. Krafft, Wilson, Sawyer and Rachel Gizzonio finished in 1:52.69 in the 4×200. Marissa Sage, Abbey Halloran, Elisabeth Rodil and Lori Demambro ran 10:18.19 in the 4×800.

Souhegan was seventh overall and the splendid sophomore distance sensation Chloe Trudel did not disappoint.

Trudel raced to victory in the 3000 meters, crossing the line in 10:26.57. She added six more points for the team with a third in the 1500 meters.

Adrianna Zlotnick was sixth in the 600 (1:46.64), while she, Masho Primmer, Emma Herrero and Sophia Lunati ran 10:27.67 for fourth in the 4×800.

On the boys side, Milford was the top local performer, grabbing seventh place overall.

Caleb Korthals delivered a monster effort in the 1500, grabbing second overall in 4:12.85. Teammate JR Ughu also exceeded his seed, placing second in the shot at 46-4.
