Spartan boys finish sixth

The Milford High School boys swim team finished sixth to highlight the local efforts in the Division II boys and girls State Meet late Saturday at the University of New Hampshire, while the Souhegan boys were ninth.

Oyster River captured the boys title with 205 points, followed by Windham with 192. Milford had 95 points behind fifth place Portsmouth’s 118; the Sabers, meanwhile, had 57, ahead of 10th place Lebanon (41).

Hanover captured the girls crown with 203 points, well ahead of second place Portsmouth (152).

Locally, Souhegan was the top finisher in 10th with 55 points, just ahead of Hollis Brookline (52). Milford finished 17th .

BOYS HIGHLIGHTS

Milford’s Andrew Bartolomucci won the 200 freestyle, just ahead of Souhegan second place finisher Miles Lim, with a time of 1:46.68 to 1:46.90. Bartolomucci also captured the 100 butterfly in 53.24 seconds.

Noah McCandless was seventh in the 100 free (54.63) and 10th in the 50 free (24.58), while Josh Anderson was ninth in the 100 fly (100.47) and 12th in the 100 back (1:05.74)

Milford got key points with its two relay third place finishes in the boys 200 medley and 200 freestyle. Riley Hansen, McCandless, Josh Anderson and Bartolomucci swam a 1:38.37 in the free, while the Spartans medley relay team of Bartolomucci, Cam Mitchell,Anderson and Noah McCandless was third in 1:49.42. Mithchell was 15th in the 100 breast.

Also for Souhegan, Miles Lim captured the 500 free in 4:50.79. Ethan Lim was 12th in the 50 free in 24.79, while Hunter Daily was 10th in the 100 free in 56.72.

The Lims, along with Anthony Nino and Daly swam a combined 1:43.75 for seventh in the 200 free. Ethan Lim was 13 th in the 100 breast and Daily 16 th .

Hollis Brookline’s Jonathan Chau was 11 th in the 200 free and 14 th in the 100 fly.

GIRLS

The Sabers were led by freshman Amanda Ulicny who was second in the 500 free in 5:08.84, and fourth in the 200 free (1:53.18).

Souhegan’s 200 medley relay team of Alexa Leary, Felicity Howard,Amanda Ulicny and Emma Lowery took seventh in 2:02.97.

That was just ahead of Hollis Brookline’s eighth place team of Siwei Zhang, Mary Martin, Eleanor Cunanan and Malory Clifton (2:04.43).

The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Lowery, Leary, Ulicny and Felicity Howard was seventh in 1:50.10.

Also for the Sabers, Leary was 10 th in the 500 free (5:58.84) and 18 th in the 100 fly, while Howard finished 13 th in the 100 breast.

Cunanan paced the Cavaliers with a second place finish in the 50 free (25.21) and a fourth in the 100 back (1:00.61) while Mary Martin was 15 th in the 100 breast, 19 th in the 50 free. Zhang took 13 th in the 100 back and 14 th in the 100 free.

The Cavs 200 free relay team again finished just behind Souhegan in eighth as Martin, Zhang, Clifton and Cunanan swam a combined time of 1:50.97. HB’s 400 free relay team of Victoria Rezzarday, Lily Jackson, Siena Moskun and Clifton took ninth (4:44.22).

The Spartan girls were led by the 10 th place finishes by the 200 free relay team of Lily Chappell, Calista Chappell, Erica Faucher and Elaine Danas, and Danas in the 50 free (26.52). Calista Chappell was 11 th in the 500 free (6:01.26). The Chappells, Danas, and Faucher were 13 th in the 200 medley relay. Danas took 14 th in the 100 butterfly.

Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Ava Rondeau was ninth in the 100 free and 11 th in the 100 back (1:03.83). The relay team of Rondeau, Madeline Straw, Elizabeth Jacob and Maddy Smith was 15 th in the 200 free relay.

Also, Campbell’s Katelyn Raikey took seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:03.15) and 12 th in the 100 back (1:03.84).
