BOYS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 9,

MERRIMACK 4

Chris Weeder, Tony Garrant (two assists) and Cole Manning (one assist) each found the back of the net twice to help the Sabers roar past the Tomahawks.

Sam Stevenson (one assist), Colin Duckless and Aiden Lawrence also scored goals for Souhegan. Andrew Mullin made nine saves.

Elle Stevenson collected seven points (four goals, three assists) to lead the Sabers. McKenzie Cretsinger (three assists) and Abby Giannetti each had hat tricks. Riley Devine (one goal, one assist), Emma Kennedy (two goals), Lyla Kimball (three ground balls, one goal, one assist), Maddie Lim (two goals) and Shannon Hargreaves (five saves) all played well.

Wil Jacques had a big strikeout in relief of starter Kyan Bagshaw, who pitched well, leaving the potential tying run at third. Bagshaw struck out 11 over 5-2/3 innings. Nolan Colby doubled and Dylan Dufour drove in both runs.

SOFTBALL

MILFORD 22, PELHAM 7

The Spartans opened the season in a big way against the Pythons. Keelie Wells knocked out two home runs including a grand slam for a total of eight RBIs and Ali Fortin had a home run and three RBIs. Madi Herbert struck out 11.

The Sabers continued to win in impressive fashion for their third straight sweep. Singles winners were Maddie Daniel (8-0), Caroline Drum (8-2), Mishka Tower (8-0), Keelin Llewelyn (8-2) and Amelia Wysor (8-3). In doubles Daniel/Tower (8-0), Drum/Jancar (8-0) and Megan Sinner/Llewelyn (8-5) won.

The Warriors picked up their first win of the season, with No. 1 Elisabeth Jacob (8-4), No. 2 Erin McDonald (8-2) and Senja Sours (8-3 at No. 4) coming out on top. So did the doubles team of Jacob/McDonald (8-2) and Madaline Straw/Sours (8-2)

The Sabers dropped the first two singles matches but swept the rest of the match, as singles winners were Ryan Fernandez (8-2), Connor Firmin (8-1), Andrew Rosse (8-0) and Samuel Bartle (8-0).

James Zeolie/Fernandez (8-3), and Yates/Lance Marinelli (8-4) also won in doubles.

FIVE-TEAM MEET

Souhegan totaled 127 points, edging Oyster River 114. Merrimack Valley (40), Kearsarge (38) and Pembroke (21). Jaren Noorda got a first in the 1600 in 4:43.60, while Daniel Svendsen took first in the 3200 in 11:47.08, ahead of Owen Stine (12:13.14). Cole Henderson captured the 300 hurdles (49.15) and Souhegan won the 4Ö100 relay.

Wil Jacques captured the discus (143-6), and was second in the high jump and javelin. Nolan Dickinson was second in the 800.

GIRLS TRACK

SABERS FOURTH

The Souhegan girls (63) were a point out of third, taken by Merrimack Valley (64) and three points out of second, which was grabbed by Kearsarge (66 points). All were far behind meet winner Oyster River (113), but ahead of fifth place Pembroke (39).

Emma Herrero took the 400 in 1:08.38, while Chloe Trudel was first in the 800 in 2:23.33. The Saber 4×100 relay team won in 55.68.

Caitlin Cooper was second in the 100, and Anna Brammer-DePuy the same in the 1600. Ashereka Primmer won the pole vault at 7-0, was second in the high jump and fourth in the javelin.

KINGSWOOD 0

The Sabers made the most of a road trip to Wolfeboro with a clean sweep. Singles winners were Maddie Daniel, Caroline Drum, Mishka Tower, Tylee Jancar, Keelin Llewyn and Amelia Wysor. Daniel-Tower, Jancar-Drum and Tess Jancar-Amanda Leary all triumphed.

The Sabers started their season off on the right foot, as Josh Goddard (8-1), James Zeolie (8-0), Matt Yates (8-0), Ryan Fernandez (8-0) and Connor Firmin (8-0) all recording singles wins while the sixth was given to the Sabers by default. Zolie/Fernandez (8-3) and Yates/Firmin (8-0) also recorded doubles wins.

Elisabeth Jacob and Erin McDonald were competitive at Nos. 1 and 2 singles for the Warriors, both falling 8-4 and then 8-4 as a doubles tandem.
