Locals shine in Saber Invitational

SOUHEGAN BOYS FIRST IN

SABER INVITIATIONAL

In the boys meet, the host Sabers totaled 107.5 points, ahead of rival Milford (98) while Alvirne (90) was third and North (76) fourth. Merrimack was sixth at 52, ahead of Campbell in seventh at 41.

For the Sabers, Carson Behn took first n the 200 and the Sabers, helped by Owen Stine and Jaren Noorda, also took the 4Ö800 relay. Tony Garrant was second in the 100, third in the 200 and javelin; Own Stine was second in the 3200 and Jaren Noorda third. The Sabers were second in the 4Ö100 relay, while Wil Jacques took second in the shot put, discus and javelin, and was third in the high jump.

Milford got firsts from Nathan Pettingell in the 100 (11.69) as he finished ahead of teammate Reggie Hardwick (11.75). Pettingell, Hardwick, Zach Naun and Ryon Constable teamed up for a 4Ö100 relay win (45.14). Caden Zalenski won the discus (152-7) as well as the shot put (49-5).

Naun was third in the 400, and Constable second in the long jump, third in the triple.

In the girls meet, Nashua North totaled a whopping 145 points, well ahead of second place Milford (105). Merrimack was fourth (73) and Alvirne took fifth (61). Souhegan was seventh (34) and Campbell eighth (9).

For Milford, Keely Giordano captured the 200 (28.47). Abby Halloran (7-0) took the pole vault, Sarah Sawyer won the long jump (16-3.5) and the Spartan foursome of Keely Giordano, Annalise Nassy, Elliana Nassy and Sawyer won the 4Ö100

Annalise Nassy won the triple jump (31-8), was second in the 100, Victoria Cornaro was second in the 1600 and Kylie Allen third in the shot put and discus

Souhegan’s Chloe Trudel captured the 3200 in 11:10.32 while her Saber teammate, Stephanie Svendsen was second and Emma Jarnigan third. Emma Herrero was second the 400.

APRIL 15

BASEBALL

PLYMOUTH 5, MILFORD 3

Jake Lammi pitched five innings, giving up two unearned runs, three hits and struck out six in the Spartans loss.

Nick Conforti and Lammi led the offense tallying two hits each. Colin Williams hit a solo home run.

SOFTBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 14,SOUHEGAN 3

The Cavaliers came out swinging in their home opener to defeat the Sabers. Kailey Disco recorded two triples, two RBIs and three stolen bases on offense. Disco also pitched five innings giving up two hits and struck out six. Emily Tebbetts tallied a triple, single, RBI and a stolen base.

Savannah Duquette contributed two RBIs and Austyn Kump had a RBI and a stolen base. Abigail Guay hit a double with two RBIs with Ava Imbrogno adding one RBI. Ally Johnson pitched two innings and a hit a double with one RBI.

GIRLS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 19, DOVER 3

Mackenzie Cretsinger (two assist) and Elle Stevenson (one assist, two groundballs) each found the back of the net five times in the Sabers rout of the Green Wave.

Maddie Lim (three goals, two assists, five groundballs), Emma Kennedy (five assists, two groundballs), Tatum Zampella (two goals, two groundballs), Riley Devine (one goal, one assist, three groundballs), Abby Giannetti (one goal) and Natalie Heimarck (two goals, four groundballs) made contributions in the win.

BOYS TENNIS

SOUHEGAN 7, KENNETT 2

The Sabers keep the winning train rolling, as they are now 4-0 after sweeping doubles.

Singles winners were James Zeolie at No. 2 (8-3), Ryan Fernandez at No. 4 (8-3), Connor Firmin at No. 5 (8-2) and Andrew Rosse at No. 6 (8-0).

The teams of Zeolie/Fernandez, Firmin Rosse and Josh Goddard/Matthew Yates all won as well.

GIRLS TENNIS

KINGSWOOD 5, MILFORD 4

The Spartans (0-5) played their best match of the season thus far, with singles wins by Brooke Gizzonia at No. 3 and Stella Crosby at No. 6. The No. 2 and 3 doubles teams of Hayden Dyer/Emma Grovesteen and Crosby/Gizzonio also won.

APRIL 14

BASEBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9, MILFORD 0

The Cavaliers open up their season with a shutout win against the Spartans. Padge MacSeain (four strikeouts) and Zak Lussier (three strikeouts) combined for a one hitter.

Torin White (two hits, two RBIs), MacSeain (one hit, one RBI, three runs), Alex Razzaboni (two doubles, two RBIs), Lussier (single, triple, two RBIs) and Charlie Hale (two hits) led the offense for HB.

Milford’s Iziah Lunderville had a double.

SOUHEGAN 15, PELHAM 1

Keegan Burke fanned 9 allowing one hit in four innings while Nate Colby had two hits and three RBIs to pace the 2-0 Sabers offensively. Brandon Dufour, Kyan Bagshaw and Mitch Hauser had two RBIs each.

SOFTBALL

SOUHEGAN 3, PELHAM 2

Danielle Drobat smacked a three run homerun in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off for the Sabers in their home opener. Liv Harnish allowed five hits and struck out 15 over seven innings. Isabelle Brandt played well behind the plate for the locals.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 7, MILFORD 5

The Cavaliers used their power at the plate to get by the Spartans in their season opener. Kailey Disco had three singles, a triple and two RBIs, Emily Tebbetts had a single and a stolen base, Savannah Duquette had a double and two RBIs. Also,Emily Sartell had two singles, a double and an RBI, while Ava Imbrogno hit a double and Ally Johnson had a single.

Austyn Kump was in the circle pitching seven innings and striking out 15. Kump also added a homer with two RBIs and two stolen bases.

GIRLS LACROSSSE

WINDHAM 12, SOUHEGAN 7

The Sabers dropped their first road game of the season against the Jaguars. Emma Kennedy and Lyla Kimball scored two goals apiece. McKenzie Cretsinger (two draw controls, one goal, three assists), Riley Devine (one goal), Sierra Kimball (two draw controls), Maddie Lim (two draw controls), Elle Stevenson (one draw control, one goal) and Shannon Hargreaves (11 saves) played well for the locals.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, SOUHEGAN 0

The Cavaliers sweep the Sabers 25-10, 25-13, 25-18. Leading the way for HB were Jake Laborde (11 kills, 11 aces), Aidan Norris (six kills, four aces), Kaleb Popham (three kills) and Ethan Norris (17 assists).
