BEDFORD 6, SOUHEGAN 3

The Sabers drop their third game in a row moving their record to an even 3-3. Chris Weeden, Colin Duckless and Brady Crowe each found the back of the net.

GIRLS LACROSSE

BEDFORD 15, SOUHEGAN 5

Elle Stevenson collected a hat trick in a hard loss to the Bulldogs. Tatum Zampella and McKenzie Cretsinger (four draw controls) scored one goal each. Riley Devine had an assist and Shannon Hargreaves made seven saves.

TRUDEL, SABERS SHINE

Souhegan High School’s Chloe Trudel raced to the 15th fastest time in the U.S. this season for 5,000 meters on Friday night in the Connecticut Distance Festival, with a time of 17:48 under the lights at William Hall High School in West Hartford, Conn.

Racing in a highly competitive field that included Rachel St. Germain, the 2022 Nike National indoor 5,000 champion, along with several other top distance runners from Massachussets, Connecticut, and New York,

Trudel captured third place with a well-executed race, bested only by St. Germain (17:12.69, No. 4 USA), and Madelaine Sweeney (17:47.57, No. 14 USA).

Meanwhile, in the boys event, several Sabers ran excellent times in a highly competitive 5,000 field of 79 athletes competing in multiple sections (the top three finishers are U.S. ranked No. 4 No. 5 and No. 6 in the 5,000 meters this season).

Junior Jaren Noorda led the way for the Sabers with his 16:41.39 Noorda finished 37th overall, running the 8th fastest time for a junior in the event. He was followed by sophomore Owen Stine in 44th, who’s 16:54.90 is the fastest ever for a Souhegan sophomore.

Freshman Dallen Noorda (17:33.93), senior NolanDickinson (17:54.94), and sophomore Finley Irvine (17:58.77) also raced well for Souhegan.

BASEBALL

SOUHEGAN 18, KENNETT 7

The Sabers scored 44 runs in three games after managing just one run against Hollis Brookline, and enjoyed their second 10-run inning of the week , breaking this one open with 10 in the fifth.

They outhit Kennett 10-6 and took advantage of six Eagle errors.

SOFTBALL

KENNETT 5, SOUHEGAN 2

Liv Harnish went the distance in the circle for the Sabers, striking out 15 while allowing only eight hits, but it wasn’t enough to keep Souhegan from dropping its fourth straight.

Harnish also had an inside the park home run.

Isabelle Brandt had a great performance behind the plate for Souhegan.

BISHOP GUERTIN 20

SOUHEGAN 4

The Cardinals wreaked havoc on the Sabers afternoon. Brady Dumont (two assists), Quinn Cepiel (two assists) and Aiden Laurendeau (two assists) each collected a hat trick.

Tim Kiely (three assists), Connor Bouvier (assist), Connor Guibord and Kevin Broderick scored two goals apiece. Finishing off the scoring were Riley Gwinn, Emerson Warren and Ryan Jolicoeur with one goal each. Connor Hughes tallied two assists with Caleb Yeung, Carter Jozokos, Kyle Mach, Mitchell Lynch and Daniel Woodford each grabbing one assist.

LEBANON 12, MILFORD 6

The Spartans took a road loss to Lebanon. Logan Barnhill scored four goals and Chuck Urda tallied two goals. James Brew made eight saves in net; while Luca DeRosa and Tyler Descoteaux played well defensively.

BOYS TENNIS

GOFFSTOWN 6, SOUHEGAN 3

The Sabers suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 5-1. Owen Van Hooser won 8-0 at No. 6 singles for Souhegan, while he also teamed up with Samuel Bartle for a win at No. 3 doubles, 8-4. The No. 2 doubles team of Josh Goddard and Connor Firmin also wo 8-3.

Thursday, april 21

BASEBALL

CONVAL 4, MILFORD 1

Spartan sophomore Mike Lima pitched a complete game in defeat in his first varsity start, giving up five hits and striking out three.

Jake Lammi and Chris Bedard both had hits for the Spartans (0-5), with Bedard hitting an RBI double.

The Spartan defense also played well. Milford is off until May 2 when it visits Bow.

EPPING 12,

WILTON-LYNDEBORUGH 2

Warriors freshman pitcher Colby Collins only gave up two hits into the fifth, but WLC’s defense suffered.

BASEBALL

SOUHEGAN 19, LACONIA 3

The Sabers moved to 4-1 pounding out 15 hits on the windy road while taking advantage of four Laconia errors. Kyan Bagshaw had two doubles, Drew Burke a sac fly, Keegan Burke an RBI single, Nolan Colby an RBI double, and Drew Reagan had a two-run single.

KENNETT 11, MILFORD 10

The Spartans fought back after falling down by seven runs in the seventh inning, but the comeback fell just short. Landon Pierce (three RBIs), Colin Williams and Logan Howard all managed multiple hits. Pierce went 3-4 with three RBIs.

Jake Lammi took the loss on the mound for the Spartans, pitching four innings and striking out six batters. Lammi also had a hit and two runs.

SOFTBALL

LACONIA 19, SOUHEGAN 10

Danielle Drobat had a two run homer while Liv Harnish went 3 for 4 at the plate while pitching well, along with Gabby Torres.

SOUHEGAN 14, EXETER 8

Natalie Heimarck (three ground balls), Elle Stevenson (two assists) and Lyla Kimball (four ground balls, assist) each recorded a hat trick in the Sabers (3-1) win. Allison Jordan (three ground balls),

Emma Kennedy (goal, two ground balls), Riley Devine (goal, two ground balls), Maddie Lim (assist), Karina Kruchynska (goal, ground ball), MacKenzie Cretsinger (two goals, two ground balls) and Sierra Kimball (three groundballs) played well for the locals.

BOYS LACROSSE

PELHAM 15, MILFORD 8

The Spartans couldn’t escape the Pythons resulting in a loss Wednesday.

Chuck Urda tallied a hat trick, Logan Barnhill and Cade Bouchard scored two goals apiece; while Jack Seals netted one goal and Harris Jones added one assist. James Brew made eight saves in net with Tyler Descoteaux and Luca DeRosa adding great defensive play.

EXETER 18, SOUHEGAN 5

The Sabers suffered their first loss of the season when the Blue Hawks came to town.

Tony Garrant and Aiden Lawrence each scored two goals and Colin Duckless added one. JJ Bright played phenomenal winning just about every face-off.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2

The Sabers continue to stay unbeaten (6-0), taking five of six singles and two of three doubles.

Saber winners were No. 1 Maddie Daniel (8-5), No. 2 Caroline Drum (8-2), Mishka Tower at No. 3 (8-3), Tylee Jancar at No. 4 (8-1 and No. 6 Tess Jancar (9-7). Daniel/Tower at No. 1 (8-6) and No. 2 Jancar/Drum (8-1) also won in doubles.

The Cavalier wins came from Mikayla Coolidge at No. 5, 8-4 and Katie Bauer/Emily Frederickson 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
