Milford boys lax rips Stevens

BOYS LACROSSE

MILFORD 12, STEVENS 0

Logan Barnhill scored a hat trick and added an assist to lead the Spartans (1-4) to their first win of the season. Chuck Urda and Harris Jones chipped in with two goals apiece.

Hugh Palmer (goal, assist), Cade Bouchard (goal, assist), Jack Seale (two assists), Andrew Herner (goal), Alex Johnson (goal), Ryan Arseneau (goal), Kaleb Francouer (assist) and Braydon Atwood (assist) rounded out the scoring.

James Brew made four saves in the shutout as the stout defensive play was led by Luica DeRosa, Justin Desmerais, Dartagnan Boudreau and Tyler Descoteaux.

BOW 4, MILFORD 0

The Spartans continued to look for their first win after getting shutout by the Falcons.

Damian Philbrick gave up two earned runs and one walk in six innings pitched. Colin Williams, Jake Lammi and Michael Lima all had hits.

The Sabers lost their fifth consecutive contest on Monday afternoon.

The Sabers dominated on the road. Elle Stevenson played great all over the field collecting seven goals, three draw controls and two groundballs.

Lyla Kimball tallied a hat trick and five groundballs.

Mackenzie Cretsinger (two goals, four draw controls, three groundballs), Riley Devine (goal, assist), Emma Kennedy (two goals, assist), Maddie Lim (two goals, draw control, groundball) and Lyla Hawkes (goal, assist) all contributed to the victory.

Shannon Hargreaves made six saves.

In a rain-shortened match, the Warriors (2-6) got a singles win from Elisabeth Jacob (8-3), and she teamed with Erin McDonald for an 8-6 doubles win.

Also, the Warriors team of Madeline Straw/Senja Sours won 4-1.

Straw lost a tough No. 3 singles match, 9-8 (7-1 tiebreaker) to Conant’s Lilly Rennie.

SOUHEGAN 12,

NASHUA SOUTH 10

The Sabers had to fight back not once but twice in this one.

They trailed 6-2 than rallied to tie the game at the half with four unanswered goals. Then they trailed 8-6 early in the second half, and bounced back again with four straight goals.

With the score tied at 6, South grabbed that two-goal lead before Souhegan’s Natalie Heimarck (three goals, four draw controls) and Lyla Kimball Mackenzie Crestinger (team high four goals, two draw controls) got the go-ahead with 17:33 to go. Elle Steveson (two goals, assist, four draws) gave the Sabers their first two-goal lead, 10-8.

Later it became 12-8 on goals by Emma Kennedy and 10:28 left and Stevenson with 6:11 to go.

A big frustration for the Panthers was Saber goalie Shannon Hargraves, who came up with 13 saves. Keira Walsh had six stops for the Panthers.

Souhegan’s girls track team was 11th as Chloe Trudel had a big day, winning the 3200 (11:16.54) and was second in the 1600.

In the boys meet, Milford was 10th as Caden Zalenski took the shot put at 50-8 and was second in the discus, while teammate Ryon Constable was fifth in the long jump.

BASEBALL

SOUHEGAN 14, BEDFORD 4

The Sabers pounded out 12 hits while also taking advantage of six Bedford errors in an inter-division contest. Nolan Colby led the way, going 4 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Brandon Dufour (2 for 4, RBI), Dylan Dufour (2 for 4, RBI), Teddy Katsel (2 for 4, run, three RBIs), Kyan Bagshaw (hit, RBI), Wil Jaques (two RBIs) all contributed to the offensive attack.

Pitcher Keegan Burke went 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on six hits but struck out seven.

SOUHEGAN 8

The Sabers got three goals from Tony Garrant and two eacy by Cole Manning and Colin Duckless, plus a goal by A.J. Hawk. Brady Metris had six saves in the Saber net.

SOFTBALL

WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 21, FARMINGTON 6

The Warriors got their first win of the year, taking advantage of several walks and an inside-the-park homer by eighth grader Delaney Dowling. Junior Ryleigh Smith didn’t allow an earned run, in the circle, as all of Farmington’s runs were unearned.

KINGSWOOD 4

Among the highlights for the Sabers: Colin Burke had four strikeouts on the mound over 6-2/3 innings, Kyan Bagshaw with a couple of hits and an RBI, and two run scored on passed ball.

Nolan Colby (2 for 3, RBI) had a couple of steals. Wil Jacques, Colin Burke, Bandon Dufour and Dylan Dufour each had a hit.
