Milford boys, girls teams right on track

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

SOUHEGAN 3, BP. GUERTIN 2

The Sabers squeezed by the Cardinals by scores of 25-17, 25-18, 17-25, 25-27, 15-13. Trent Rider (27 digs, nine kills), Sam Dufoe (15 assists, five kills) and Sam Kouchalakos (11 digs, three kills) led the way for BG.

TRACK AND FIELD

The Milford boys and girls captured their respective meets with Campbell, Hollis Brookline and Con Val.

Local winners in the boys meet included, for Milford: Nate Pettengill in the 100 (11.72) and 200 (24.63), Daniel Sixon in the 1600 (4:55.72), Luc Pelletier in the 3200 (12:30.40), Adam Holodowski in the 110 and 300 hurdles (18.89 45.31),

Caden Zalenski in the shot put (50-0.5), Christian Waller in the discus (105-3) and the Milford 4Ö100 relay team

Milford girls winners included Annalise Nassy in the 100 (13.27), Abbey Halloran in the 800 (2:39.64), Victoria Cornaro in the 1600 (6:01.31), Caroline Raiano in the 3200 (14:24.43), Sarah Sawyer in the triple jump (31-7.25), Kylie Allen in the shot put (31-10.25) and discus (83.5), plus the 4Ö100 and 4Ö400 relay teams.

FRIDAY

BASEBALL

HANOVER 6, SOUHEGAN 4

The Sabers suffered their second straight loss, losing to fellow Division II contender Hanover, but are still 11-4 going into the final two weeks of the season.

PITTSFIELD 2

Sean Brennan struck out 15 in a complete game for the Warriors’ third straight win. Troy Brennan had three hits with a home run while Keegan Hall and Ty Collins had two hits apiece.

GIRLS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 17, KEENE 2

The Sabers notch their fifth straight win after a decisive win over Keene. Elle Stevenson (five goals, assist, five draw controls, two ground balls), Mackenzie Cretsinger (four goals, two assists), Emma Kennedy (two goals, two assists, two groundballs), Lyla Kimball (two goals, ground ball), McKenzie Berry (goal), Riley Devine (goal), Natalie Heimarck (goal, two assists, three draw controls), Maddie Lim (three assists) and Lyla Hawkes (goal) led the way.

SOUHEGAN 7,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2

The Sabers (6-5) break their five game losing streak and the Cavaliers (3-9) drought climbs to four in a row. Winners for HB were Bryson Giersch (8-6) and William Critchfield (8-4).

GIRLS TENNIS

TRINITY 7, WILTON-LYNDE. 2

The Warriors ended their season at 3-9, with a win at No. 4 singles by Senja Sours, 8-2, and Elisabeth Jacob/Erin MacDonald 8-5.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1

Ryan Fernandez (8-3), Matthew Yate (8-4), Connor Firmin (8-0) and Andrew Rosse (8-1) all won singles for Souhegan, which then swept doubles to snap a five match losing streak.

MILFORD 11, LEBANON 9

The Spartans pickup their third consecutive win on the road against Lebanon. Michael Lima (three hits), Damian Philbrick, Logan Howard and Nick Conforti managed multiple hits. Lima also got the win on the mound and Landon Pierce grabbed the save.

BOYS LACROSSE

TRINITY 8, MILFORD 4

The Spartans lost their fourth straight contest. Logan Barnhill scored two goals; while Harris Jones and Tyler Descoteaux had one goal each and Jack Seale had an assist. James Brew collected 12 saves

SOUHEGAN BOYS NINTH

Souhegan’s Wil Jaques won the discus (156-6) and javelin (161-0) at the Merrimack Invitational.

WEDNESDAY

BASEBALL

MILFORD 8, LACONIA 0

Jake Lammi earned the victory allowing three hits, no runs and striking out 10 over six innings. Michael Lima and Landon Pierce each had two hits. The Spartans showed their speed by stealing nine bases.

PORTS. CHRISTIAN 0

Troy Brennan tossed seven innings of two-hit ball, striking out 11.Troy and brother Sean both hit homers for WLC.

BOYS TENNIS

WINDHAM 5, SOUHEGAN 4

The Sabers’ tough stretch continued as they dropped four of six singles to put them on the edge, needing to sweep doubles to avoid a fifth straight defeat. No. 1 James Zeolie (8-5) and Andrew Rosse (8-1) at No. 6 won.

The Sabers were only able to win two doubles matches, Josh Goddard/Matthew Yates 8-6 at No. 2 and Connor Firmin/Andrew Rosse 8-4 at No. 3.

WILTON-LYNDE. 0

It was a tough day for the Warriors as their best matches were in doubles with Elisabeth Jacob/Jodi Gibson and Madaleine Straw/Senja Sours falling 8-5 and 8-4.

TUESDAY, MAY 10

GIRLS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 16, CONCORD 4

The Sabers rolled, led by Elle Stevenson’s four goals, two assists, three draw controls and seven ground balls.

Other contributors, included Mackenzie Crestinger (three goals, assist, seven draws, eight ground balls), Natalie Heimarack (two goals, assist, two draws, five ground balls, two caused turnovers), Emma Kennedy (two goals, two assists, eight ground balls, one turnover), Lyla Kimball (two goals, assist, two draws, six grounders, one turnover), Sierra Kimball (three ground balls), Maddie Lim (three goals, grounder, turnover) and Riley Devine (assist).
