Milford stuns Souhegan, 2-1

Damian Philbrick allowed six hits, one run and struck out six over seven innings to push the Spartans past the Sabers. 2-1

Landon Pierce had two hits to lead Milford and Jake Lammi played great on defense.

Souhegan’s Keegan Burke took the loss allowing four hits and two runs while striking out 10 over six innings. Brandon Dufour led the Sabers offense with three hits.

The Sabers (7-9) grab a decisive win at home against the Titans (1-15). Adeen Ahmed and Alec Jenkerson each scored a goal with Devyn Lavoie making four saves for North.

Souhegan’s Wil Jaques was second in the shot put and discus, third in the high jump and javelin, and teammate Jaren Noorda was third in the 3200.

Souhegan’s Chloe Trudel won the 1600 in 5:11.08 and took third in the 800.

CON VAL MEET

In the boys meet, Milford winners included Adam Holodowsk in the 300 hurdles, Caden Zalenski in the shot put and discus.

In the girls competition, Milford’s Sarah Sawyer was a triple winner: the 100 meter dash, plus the long and triple jumps, and was second in the javelin.Victoria Cornaro was second in the 800, while Ellianna Nassy won the high jump, was second in the 100 hurdles.

Souhegan senior lefty Kyan Bagshaw gave up three runs (two earned), scattered six hits, and struck out 11.

The Sabers including five doubles and a triple. They set the tone in the first with a triple by Nolan Colby and back-to-back doubles by Keegan Burk and Bagshaw.

MERRIMACK VALLEY 6, MILFORD 3

The Spartans had a shot to tie the game in the sixth, but Merrimack Valley’s Shea Wood made a great catch to hold off the locals. Nick Conforti, Landon Pierce (two runs) and Colin Williams (RBI) all had hits with Chris Bedard stealing three bases.

Mackenzie Cretsinger had a game for the ages tallying seven goals, seven draw controls and eight groundballs.

Among the scorers, Elle Stevenson (four goals, two assists, three draw controls, three groundballs), Emma Kennedy (three goals, assist, two groundballs), Lyla Kimball (goal, four groundballs), Natalie Heimarck (two goals, assist, two draw controls, four groundballs) and Riley Devine (two assists).

Harris Jones had a goal and an assist, Kaleb Francouer and Andrew Herner added a goal apiece and Logan Barnhill contributed an assist. James Brew made 16 saves.

BOYS TENNIS

Portsmouth 5, Souhegan 4

The Sabers dropped four of six singles to put them in a hole. Josh Goddard at No. 2 (8-5) and Ryan Fernandez (8-1) at No. 3 got wins. Goddard teamed up with Yates for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles and Firmin/Rosse won at No. 3, 8-5.

The Sabers took their third consecutive match as Maddie Daniel, Caroline Drum and Mishka Tower won in singles. Daniel/Tower and Drum/Tylee Jancar won in doubles.

The Spartans broke open a tie game in the bottom of the sixth when Jake Lammi doubled, scoring a run. Lammi also got the win on the moundwith a complete game scattering five hits and striking out 10.

WILTON-LYNDE. 13, NEWMARKET 1

The Warriors enjoyed their biggest win of the year as Troy Brennan tossed a complete game two-hitter, striking out 15, and also hada triple, double, and two walks at the plate.
