Girls volleyball

KINGSWOOD 3, MILFORD 1

The Spartans won a tight opening set 25-23 but then fell 25-14, 25-19, 25-17.

Bailey Johnson had 10 aces, 14 kills, and eight digs to lead the locals.

Alson helping out were Alena Letendre (10 kills, nine digs, one assist), Hannah Harington (14 assists, three kills, two aces) and Kylie Allen (four kills, two digs).

MILFORD 3, PELHAM 1

The Spartans finished off the Pythons by the scores of 23-18, 22-25, 27-25, 25-19.

Alena Letendre (10 digs, four kills, two aces), Bailey Johnson (seven kills, one block, one assist, one ace), Hannah Harrington (21 assists, four kills, three aces) and Abby Krulis (nine kills, two blocks, two aces) and Kylie Allen (four kills, three aces) made major contributions in the win.

Milford was scheduled to be at Plymouth on Thursday, then to take on Souhegan in Amherst next Wednesday.

Boys soccer

MILFORD 4, SOUHEGAN 3

Avery Wilson scored in the 79th minute to snap a 3-3 tie and give the Spartans (1-2) their first win of the season. Aden Cremonini had the assist.

Milford trailed 2-1 at the half but scored three goals in the second half, with earlier unassisted scores by Wilson and Gage Tiapa.

Wilson’s game-winner spoiled a game-tying score by Souhegan’s Calvin Jaques, assisted by Ryan Fillion.

Jaques also had two goals, his first coming in the first half (Coleman Paulini assist). Alan Clay’s unassisted goal gave Souhegan the lead at the break.

Reid Kimball and Finnegan Daly each had four saves in splitting keeper chores for Souhegan, while Milford’s Leo Gogoen had seven saves.

KINGSWOOD 2, MILFORD 1

The Spartans lost the game when Kingswood scored with seven minutes left in the match. Avery Wilson scored for the locals.

Milford is slated to be at Hollis Brookline on Thursday.

WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 5,

HINSDALE 1

Austin Kimball nets four goals to lead the Warriors to their first win of the

season.

Alex Nelson added a goal and two assists. Rob Gagnon had an assist, while Joe Krug and Ben Jacob led the defense.

WLC is scheduled to be make a trip to Pittsfield on Thursday.

Girls soccer

MILFORD 3, KINGSWOOD 1

Marissa Sage, after knocking on the door, had a pair of goals for the Spartans while Claire Cote added a goal on a nifty turn in the box.

Kate Hansen and Addison Hopkins played well in the middle of the field while the Spartan defense was rock solid, anchored by Emily Lloyd, in front of keeper Molly Miles (six saves).

SOUHEGAN 2, LACONIA 1

Kelsey Lockitt scored both Saber goals in the second half after a clean sweep as goaltender in the first.

Souhegan was down to take on ConVal on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers got a pair of 39s from Charles Hale and Martin Bergeron while and Cavan Quinn had a 40 to lead the way to a second place finish at Ponemah Green.

Brady Hansen paced Milford’a golfers with a 38.

The local teams were ousted by St. Thomas at Whip-Poor-Will golf course.

Alvirne’s Noah LeClair was a medalist shooting a 34. Hall, Jack Hurrell and Small all shot a 45 for the Broncos.

Cavan Quinn shot a 39, Reid Mitchell had a 40 and Bergeron had a 45 for the Cavaliers.

Milford’s Brady Hansen (40), Hunter Kolesar (45) and Landon Pierce (46) finished the day strong.

Field hockey

GOFFSTOWN 6, MILFORD 1

The Spartans fell on the road against the Grizzlies last Friday afternoon.

Amaya Torres scored on an assist from Willa Audley. Chloe Marchand and Heather Whittier made eight and five saves

respectively.

Milford was slated to host Souhegan on Tuesday.

SOUHEGAN 6,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1

The Sabers improved to 3-0 as Ella Barrett had two goals and three assists, while single scores were by Allis Jordan, Ari Goulet, McKenzie Berry and Brooke Fallon.

Annie Raduazzo had three saves in net for the Sabers, while Hollis Brookline got a goal by Sabrina Hill, assisted by Bella Haytayan.

Cavaliers goalie Rae Kline had 13 saves and got defensive help from fullback Meghan King and midfielder Hailey Arseneau, both with two saves.

Cross country

The Nashua South boys, by virtue of their three teams in the relay format (three 3-person teams per most schools), had a combined score of six to capture the event overall, ahead of Souhegan (17), Bishop Guertin (24), Portsmouth (35) and Merrimack (37) at the 20th annul event at Freestyle Farm in Amherst.

Alvirne, Manchester Memorial and Salem competed but did not have three teams each so were not included in the boys team scoring.

Alvirne’s top team finished 10th and second team was 19th. But the Panther boys were second (44:51) third (45:19) and fourth (45:31) while Salem’s team one was tops in 44:17.

In the girls race, Keene had 12 points, ahead of Pinkerton (19), host Souhegan (20), South (33) and Merrimack (36).

Alvirne, Portsmouth and Keene did not have three teams but Alvirne’s first team was fifth in 56:46.
