HB needs 2 OTs to clip Souhegan

Ronan Finnegan scored with under three minutes left in the second overtime in snapped a three-game winless (0-2-1) streak.

Finnegan was carried off the field by his teammates after he put the ball home following a failed Saber clear off a corner kick.

It had to be frustrating for the Sabers and got seven saves from keeper Finnegan Daly. HB’s Owen Ford had five saves.

“With a total and complete effort left on the field tonight, it is a disappointing way to end,” said Sabers coach Dave Saxe.

PELHAM 1

The Sabers broke a three-game losing streak with a road win against the Pythons. Joe Bernasconi, Sam Kennedy and Ryan Tupaj found the back of the net. Bernasconi, Calvin Jaques and Alan Clay tallied assists.

Finnegan Daly collected five saves.

The Spartans lost their second consecutive game on the road.

Alina St. George scored the game’s only goal while Marissa Sage, Kate Hansen and Addi Hopkins held down midfield for Milford.

Ava Hutcheons and Clair Cote put pressure on the OR net.

The Spartans saw goals from Marissa Sage, Alina St. George, Claire Cote and Ava Kryczki.

Addi Hopkins, Kate Hansen and Keely Giordono led the defense.

The Sabers gave up a first-half goal and couldn’t cash in on some good chances throughout.

Bailey Johnson led the way with 17 kills, 11 aces and four digs in a 26-24, 22-25, 25-12, 25-20 win..

Hannah Harrington added 30 assists, an ace and two kills.

Also for Milford, Alena Letendre (12 kills, four digs), Abby Krulis (nine kills, one block, four aces), and Annalise Nassy (three aces) helped out.

The Cougars topped their local Division II rival with a close 26-24, 25-22, 25-21 sweep. Madison Bruner had 10 kills, two aces and a block to lead the way.

Milford was paced by Abby Krulis (10 kills, six digs, one ace, two blocks). Bailey Johnson (eight kills, two digs, three aces), Hannah Harrington (19 assists, three digs, two aces), and Alena Letendre (seven kills, nine digs, one ace) also played well.

The Sabers fell in a 25-13, 25-15, 25-19 sweep. But their younger players are showing promise as freshmen Juliana Koch (five aces), Ari Tapia-Stridiron (four aces. 12 assists), and Chase Harms (four kills) played well and sophomore Alicia Kennedy (three assists) contributed.

The visiting Sabers fought hard but suffered their ninth straight defeat, 25-22, 25-19, 25-16. Lizzie Benner had seven aces, Julianna Koch added 15 digs and Julia Calontuoni had six aces.
