Downie claims weekly lax honor

Merrimack’s David Downie has thrived in his hockey and lacrosse career thus far at Daniel Webster College and this past week was just another example.

Downie was named the New England Collegiate Conference men’s lacrosse Player of the Week after a stretch in which he scored seven goals with three assists for the Eagles, now 5-4. That included a five goal, two assist effort in a recent conference win over Wheelock.

On the year Downie has 23 goals and nine assists for 32 points and has scooped up 29 ground balls in eight games. For his career, he has 85 goals with 31 assists for 116 points, and he’s grabbed 126 ground balls. He is fourth all time in program history in scoring, seventh in assists and fifth in ground ball pickups.

Kerouac helps UNH to 6th at regionals

Merrimack’s Makenzie Kerouac scored a 9.825 on the uneven bars as the University of New Hampshire women’s gymnastics team placed sixth at Saturday night’s NCAA Regional.
