Jolly sets state career blocks record in win over South

Merrimack 3, South 1

The Tomahawks moved to 6-3 on Sept. 27 with a 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-23 win.

Meanwhile, senior Elise Jolly set a state career blocks record, her five in this match giving her 238 for her career. She also had 18 digs and 19 kills. Also for Merrimack, Lianna Klinger had 19 digs and four aces while Alli Marino added 24 assists.

Merrimack 3, Salem 2

Elise Jolly produced 20 kills, 19 digs, seven blocks and five service aces to lead Merrimack from two sets down to a 17-25, 17-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-10 victory over Salem at home on Sept. 28.

Jordyn Boyce (nine digs, 10 kills), Alli Marino (28 assists), Lianna Klinger (21 digs) and Joanne Bonner (eight kills, seven digs, two aces) also played well for the Tomahawks (7-3).

Timberlane 1

Elise Jolly was dominating at the net again on Sept. 29. The Merrimack senior produced 26 kills and three blocks up front, while adding 15 digs and three service aces from the back row as the Tomahawks (8-3) posted a 25-19, 25-12, 20-25, 25-15 victory on Thursday night.

Jordyn Boyce (18 digs, two kills), Joanne Bonner (five aces, two blocks, three kills), Alli Marino (20 assists), Lianna Klinger (18 digs) and Brianne Nordengren (four kills) also lifted Merrimack.

Hollis Brookline 3, Merrimack 1

The Cavaliers won a tough four-set match 25-18, 25-11, 18-25, 25-21 to move to 9-3 on the year on Monday.

Merrimack (8-4) was led by Elise Jolly (six blocks, 17 kills, five digs), Jordyn Boyce (one block, 15 digs, two kills), Joanne Bonner (three aces, three kills, six digs) and Brianne Nordengren (three blocks, three kills).

Merrimack prevailed on Sept. 27 thanks to a goal in the extra session by Erin Ortega, assisted by Abby Morgan. Gigi Wood also scored for the winners. The Tomahawks got great defense by Wood, Rachel Mack, Chloe Lemire, and Sam Page. Emma Fay had seven saves in net.

Merrimack 5, Salem 1

Merrimack improved to 3-7 on Sept. 30 behind Becky Moser (one goal,one assist) and Sara Wozniak (three assists).

The Tomahawks other goal scorers were Sam Page, Abby Morgan, Lindsey Erickson and Allison Sullivan. Callie Beard chipped in with an assist, while Emma Fay recorded four saves for the win in net.

The Tomahawks got a great defensive effort from Rachel Mack, Chloe Lemire, Gigi Wood and Emma Zanni.

Merrimack 1

Down 1-0 at the half on Sept. 27, the Panthers (5-3-1) got second-half goals by Nnaji Obinelo and Josh Reeder.

Devin Kachmar scored for the Tomahawks, assisted by Pat Steines. Goalie Ryan Gonzalez had six saves while Matt Fowler played well at midfield for the 3-7 Tomahawks.

Merrimack 3, Salem 0

Merrimack improved to 4-7 on Sept. 30 behind Devin Kachmar, who had a goal and an assist.

The other goal scorers were Pat Steines and Lucas Booth, while Matt Fowler and Mark DiPirro each got an assist.

Josh Knauer had nine saves in net and Richie Bibeault had an overall solid game.
