Treasures Antiques to hold Kitty Angels fundraiser

AMHERST – Treasures Antiques, Collectables & More will host its 25th annual Holiday Open House and Kitty Angels Fall Fundraising Weekend on Nov. 5-6.

Festivities will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.

As in past events, Kitty Angels will have several kitties for adoption, along with the Amherst Animal Hospital, which has worked alongside Kitty Angels for decades to care for some of worst cases of critically ill or injured cats.

Kitty Angels is a nonprofit, no-kill cat shelter made up of unpaid volunteers. It is dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned cats and furnishing them with treatment for injuries or other health issues.

These cats are then placed into lifelong, loving "forever homes" with compatible owners. All necessary steps are taken to ensure the well-being of the cats, including spaying and neutering and providing rabies, distemper and other necessary vaccinations.

All donations are fully tax-deductible, with every penny going directly to care for the cats.

The fundraising event is pet- and kid-friendly, and will offer sales, vintage Christmas and holiday decorative, and jewelry, jams, pickles, soaps and other items. There will be face painting, and Nevejan’s petting zoo will be on-site.

Other vendors will include Sillie Puffs, a gourmet grill team offering hot and cold food; specialty jewelry designers Karen Files and Freedom Jewelers; Damsel in Defense, whose mission is to empower, educate and equip you with personal protection products; Anthony Acres Kitty Cat Farm, with a vast supply of homemade pickles, jellies, jams and other condiments; and photographer Stephen Topia.

Additionally, Treasures is offering a number of raffles with items donated by local and national businesses.

If you’d like to help Kitty Angels but can’t make a monetary donation at this time, material donations will be accepted, such as postage stamps, cat food (both dry and canned), kitty litter (non-scoopable preferred, but any litter is good litter), medical supplies, bedding (clean towels, blankets, quilts, clean denim and corduroy, quilted bedspreads), carriers, cleaning supplies (bleach, laundry detergent and paper towels), copy paper, trash bags, and cat toys and cat furniture.
