Garden Club to host program on Lilacs and Wildflowers

For over 100 years, the Purple Lilac has been revered as the NH State Flower! Come to the Monday, February 24 meeting of the Bedford Garden Club to find out more about it. Barbara Rollins, a Landscape Supervisor Specialist with the NH-DOT Landscape Division, will begin her presentation at 6:30pm. Her program will cover recommended cultural practices for growing lilacs including planting instructions, pruning techniques and dealing with common diseases. She will provide some history of the lilac and information about the annual Lilac Photo Contest. The public is invited to attend.

The Bedford Garden Club meeting will take place in the McAllaster Room of the Bedford Public Library, 3 Meetinghouse Road. At 6:00pm, the event will begin with a Social; the Lilac Program will follow at 6:30. A Business Meeting will begin at 7:45pm.

Membership in the Bedford Garden Club is open to any adult interested in horticulture, garden-related subjects, and in promoting civic landscape improvement.
